Department
The Program in Visual Information Processing, a master’s and doctoral degree program offered under the graduate school, was jointly established by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the School of Electrical Engineering. It conducts education and research in AI-based image processing, speech understanding, computer vision, and computer graphics software. By delivering basic knowledge and teaching the latest technologies in AI, image processing, speech recognition and understanding, computer graphics, and cloud computing technology, the program aims to foster talent in core technologies of the fourth industrial revolution such as AI-based speech understanding, image processing, and computer graphics.
Education and Research Details
Master’s and doctoral students enrolled in the program can take courses offered by the program, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Department of Electrical Engineering. The minimum requirement to apply to the program is a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences from a local or overseas university, or equivalent. Candidates undergo an interview that assesses their general understanding of key areas of the program.
The Program in Visual Information Processing conducts research on speech understanding, image processing, visual communication, computer vision, computer graphics, virtual reality, digital broadcasting, multimedia, visual psychology, audiovisual interface, and multimodality.
