* ( ) : Applied to first year students enrolled in or after the first semester of 2021
* To satisfy the credit requirements to obtain a degree in the Department of Brain & Cognitive Engineering (BCE), students must complete BCE basic common and major courses. The remaining credits may be earned by taking courses offered by other graduate programs at KU.
Requirements for thesis/dissertation
○ Master’s degree
(1) Master degree candidates must present at least one paper as the first author at a national or international conference or publish as the first author in a professional journal before their request for a thesis examination. Alternatively, the candidate can register one patent or win a prize in Science and Engineering Fair domestically or internationally (counted as one paper published).
(2) Papers must be written in Korean or English.
○ Doctoral degree
(1) Ph.D. candidates must satisfy one of the following conditions before their request of thesis examination:
• Publish or receive acceptance for publication of at least one peer-reviewed SCI journal paper; the candidate must be the paper’s first author and the journal must have an impact factor within the top 10% of a given subject field.
• Register at least one patent, and publish or receive acceptance for publication of at least one peer-reviewed SCI journal paper; the candidate must be the paper’s first author and the journal must have an impact factor within the top 20% of a given subject field.
•Publish or receive acceptance for publication of at least one peer-reviewed SCI journal paper; the candidate must be the paper’s first author and the journal must have an impact factor within the top 20% of a given subject field. In addition, the candidate must publish one paper in another peer-reviewed SCI journal paper as the first author.
※ Students who enrolled before September 2014: Publish or receive acceptance for publication of at least one peer-reviewed SCI journal paper; the candidate must be the paper’s first author and the journal must have an impact factor within the top 20% of a given subject field.
